Get to know Commedia dell’Arte, the outrageous Italian theatre style that literally invented slapstick comedy. A fun-filled day of improv, mask, and craziness!

For current 8th – 11th graders

  • Saturday, November 10 — 10:00am – 3:00pm

Commedia is an outrageous type of clowning that was extraordinarily popular in the Renaissance, and was a major inspiration for Shakespeare’s comedies. Great for kids who want to try something new, or who are interested in auditioning for next summer’s Commedia Troupe.

Pick up a slapstick, work on your stage fall, and get ready for high-octane physical comedy! This introductory course goes step-by-step through everything you need to know to perform in this unique style of theatre.

Traveling Players summer camps and classes always offer expert training in acting, character creation, physical comedy, stage combat, improvisation, and text analysis. We also value the spirit of the ensemble. Our ensemble- and team-building activities create a strong, supportive cast and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Tuition: $130 ($110 before Tuesday, Sept. 11 at midnight)

Location: McLean Governmental Center, 1437 Balls Hill Road, McLean, VA 22101
